Emily Pyle/Executive Producer
Emily Pyle has eight years’ experience as an investigative journalist in the strange state of Texas, and has covered state agencies including Texas Youth Commission, the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, and the Texas public school system. Her work has been recognized by the Houston Press Club and the Association of Alternative Newsweekles. Her investigation of a 2004 riot at the Evans Regional Juvenile Justice Center was one of the first statewide publications addressing recent abuses in the state’s juvenile lock-ups.
Nevie Owens/Editor
Nevie Owens worked in the film industry for nearly a decade. She is the co-founcer of Red Frame Productions, a full-service digital video production company. Her work as a producer and editor has screened at SXSW and Slamdance. She has worked on such widely released projects as the Academy Award-nominated “Before Sunset.” Owens’ independently produced documentary Mexiphobia, about the closing of the U.S./Mexico border after 9/11, was completed in 2006 and is currently on the festival circuit.
